Series A2: Val Gardena celebrates its first final win and reduces the score to 1:2

Kevin Senoner was missing from Val Gardena, but Swedish goalkeeper Magnus Eriksson played for the first time in this final series. His compatriot Patrick Wallenberg sat in the stands as a supernumerary foreigner. Vipiteno had to do without two of its four foreigners and played without defender Oleg Sorokins and striker Mike Hamilton.

Nevertheless, it was the guests who took the lead in the 11.56 minute with Randall Gelech on a pass from Paolo Bustreo. Armando Chelodi was in the penalty box. Two minutes later Florian Wieser had to go into the cooler and this time Val Gardena equalized 1-1 with Benjamin Kostner. In the 27.50 minute, Julian Mascarin gave the Ladin team the lead for the first time with a shot from the blue line, but just four minutes later Michael Schutte made it 2-2. The final third began with Randall Gelech's second goal to make it 3-2 for Wipptal. It was the 27th playoff goal for the 361-year-old Canadian, who already has 14 AHL games under his belt. This makes him the top scorer in the final round. However, Sterzing was only able to enjoy this lead for 81 seconds, because in 43.55 minutes Benjamin Kostner equalized again to make it 3:3. Ten minutes before the end of the game, Christian Rainer (2 + 2 minutes) and Luca Scardoni (2 minutes) had to leave the ice at the same time. Val Gardena took advantage of the double advantage and moved ahead 33-5 in just 3 seconds with two goals from Jamie Schaafsma and Greg Watson. Benjamin Kostner scored the final point to make it 6:3 with his third goal of the evening, 21 seconds before the final siren, into the guests' empty goal.

Game 4 of the final series will take place in Vipiteno on Friday, and the fifth match will take place in Val Gardena on Sunday.
