Series A2: Pergine and Kaltern are fighting for the top of the table

HC Eppan Sarah Eppan is hoping for a misstep from the opponent in the two upcoming games so that they can move on to higher places in the table. On the last match day, the Pirates had the upper hand in their home stadium against Vipiteno and they would also like to score points against HC Gröden in Pranives on Friday. Two days later, Waldner and Co. are the clear favorites in the home game against EV Bozen 84. Coach Jarno Mensonen can take full advantage of the third and fourth matchdays.

SV Kaltern Rothoblaas The Hechte have got off to a good start to the season: with two wins in two games, they share the top of the table with Pergine. The Überetscher are in form and want to defend their top spot this weekend with Lorenz Röggl, who scored three goals in two games. A difficult task awaits the people of Kaltern on Friday, namely they have to compete against the team from Pergine in Valsugana. On Sunday Kaltern will face Vipiteno in another away game. Thomas Sandlin will be without Mirko Quinz this weekend, who is suffering from a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Markus Kofler is celebrating his season debut.

HC Neumarkt Riwega Coach West's team is still waiting for its first win of the season. The Unterlanders want to break the ice in Friday's game against EV Bozen 84 and get on the road to victory. The match was actually supposed to take place in the Bozen Eiswelle, but was moved to the Würth Arena and so Bertignoll & Co. enjoy “home advantage”. On Sunday the wild geese finally welcome Merano. They will be without Paolo Bustreo, who had to end the season early due to a torn cruciate ligament.

HC Gherdeina After the defeat against Kaltern on the last matchday, HC Gherdeina is hoping to make amends in the next two games. Rupert Stampfer and his teammates will face Eppan at home on Friday evening and two days later they will be on the ice again in their home stadium against class leader Pergine. Coach Thomas Kostner has the entire team available this weekend.

HC Meran Junior The people of Meran can prepare for two intense days of games. After they fought their way to victory in the Bolzano ice wave on Sunday, there are two difficult games on the program this weekend. On Friday the Adler will host Vipiteno at the MeranArena, while on Sunday they will travel to Neumarkt, where they will have their sights set on their second away win of the season. Coach Doug McKay can rely on his entire squad.

HC Pergine Solarplus The Trentino team has so far been able to record the full number of points and are level on points with the Hecht at the top of the table. The “favourite fright” wants to leave Kaltern behind in a direct duel on the third matchday and thus take the sole lead in Serie A2. On Sunday, however, the players from Pergine will go to South Tyrol, where they will be welcomed by HC Gherdeina. Marco Liberatore has to make do without striker Marco Demattio.

EV Bolzano 84 Groupon The first two matchdays didn't go as planned for coach Fred Caroll's team. With two defeats and 13 conceded goals, the state capital team has the weakest defense in the championship. The people of Bolzano will meet Neumarkt Riwega on Friday. Due to the Eagles' European Cup competition in the ice wave, both teams have to move to the Neumarkt Würth Arena. Both clubs have been unsuccessful so far. On Sunday, however, EV Bozen is in action in Eppan. Caroll doesn't have to specify a player.

WSV Vipiteno Weihenstephan The Broncos' goal for this weekend should be clear: to get six points in order to catch up with the top two places Pergine and Kaltern in the table. In the first “test” on Friday, Coach Hicks’ boys have to prove themselves in the MeranArena. On Sunday, however, the home game against Kaltern is on the program. The Vipiteno team, who currently have the best attack in the second highest Italian league, are relying primarily on TJ Caig to celebrate a double success on the third and fourth matchdays, while Luca Scardoni will still be missing.
