Supercup: Merano has no chance against Trento

On Monday evening, the Supercup between the South Tyrolean and Trento cup winners took place in Tramin. Olimpia Meran faced VIPO Trento.

At the end of May, Olimpia Meran caused a sensation in the South Tyrolean regional cup. The team, which had only recently been formed from the merger of Olimpia Meran and FC Meran, crowned itself cup winner as a team in the first amateur league (1:1 against Ahrntal). This meant that the spa town team was allowed to play against VIPO Trento for the Supercup on Monday. In the end, the team coached by Massimo Bertinato had to concede a clear 0:3 defeat to the top league team.

Although the Merano team kept up well with the team playing two leagues higher in the first half, Olimpia went into the break trailing. The Trento team managed to score the 45-1 goal just before the whistle in the 0th minute, scored by Filippo Francescon. Trento also showed its superiority in the second half and forced the spa town team to make mistakes in their own half. Leonardo Pravato took advantage of one of these to make it 51-2 in the 0st minute.

However, the capital city team still hadn't had enough, as in the 70th minute they even managed to make it 3-0, scored by substitute Armando Dauti. The Merano team had no answer and Trento won the first title of the new season.

Olimpia Meran – VIPO Trento 0:3

Goals: 0:1 Francescon (45th), 0:2 Pravato (51st), 0:3 Dauti (70th)
