Official! Piergiuseppe Maritato returns to FC Südtirol

Maritato was born on March 19, 1989 in Cetraro, Cosenza province, and grew up in Juventus' youth sector. Maritato, who is 1,80 m tall and weighs 70 kg, was acquired by Fiorentina in 2008 and has scored 15 goals in the Primavera Championship this season. He was also called up to the first team six times and was on the bench four times.

In the 2009/2010 season he moved to Gallipoli and made his debut in Serie B on August 21, 2009. In the game Ascoli - Gallipoli, the striker came on as a substitute and provided the assist for the first goal for Gallipoli - in the second highest Italian league by Di Gennaro. After his short stay in Apulia, Maritato returned to Fiorentina in the winter. The club from Tuscany loaned him out to Giulianova (1st Division Lega Pro), where he made 12 appearances.

He also played in the first division of the Lega Pro in the 2010/2011 season. Maritato scored three goals in 20 appearances for Reggiana in the championship and scored one goal in the Italian Cup. In the 2011/22012 sporting year, the Calabrese donned the red and white striped shirt of Vicenza (Serie B) in the first half of the season and in the second half of the season he played for Sorrento in the first division of the Lega Pro (Group A). This season was preceded by the sale of half of Fiorentina's transfer rights to Vicenza and on June 23rd the Serie B club also secured the other half.

At FC Südtirol - in the following 2012/13 season - Maritato scored six goals in 29 games. Maritato scored eight goals in the following season with Vicenza in the Lega Pro (22 games). Even after Vicenza was promoted to Serie B, Maritato stayed with the traditional club from Veneto, but was only used four times. In the winter, the striker moved to Como, where he played twice and was promoted to Serie B via the playoffs.

Now Maritato has returned to FC Südtirol, where he is supposed to breathe new life into the offensive after Manuel Fiwickeler's departure to Alessandria.
