Diogo Jota's widow: Heartbreaking words to her dead husband

The widow of the late football professional Diogo Jota, Rute Cardoso, has publicly addressed her husband with touching words.

"One month since our 'Not even death can separate us.' Forever, your little white girl," Rute Cardoso captioned a series of photos from their wedding. Two pictures show the couple performing a wedding dance.

The Liverpool FC footballer and his brother André Silva died in a car accident in Spain on July 3. Just a few days earlier, the Portuguese international had married his long-time girlfriend, with whom he has three children.

Liverpool coach Arne Slot paid tribute to the deceased with emotional words before the first friendly match of the new season. "We will always carry him with us, in our hearts, in our thoughts, wherever we go," said the coach of the English football champions in an interview on the club's website.

Reds coach also remembers Diogo Jota

In the last month of his life, Diogo Jota was "a champion in everything," especially for his family. This thought often brings him comfort, the Dutchman explained.
