Fischlerler is in the Italian Cup semi-finals with Alessandria

Spezia, currently 13th in Serie B, hosted Alessandria, second in the Lega Pro, District A, in the Italian Cup quarter-finals on Monday evening. This is the district in which FC Südtirol also plays. And three former kickers from the White-Reds were in the “Grigi’s” starting line-up on Monday, namely the signing Manuel Fiwickeler, as well as Manuel Marras and Simone Branca. Riccardo Bocalon, who was with FCS in the 2012/13 season, came on as a substitute in the second half. And this Bocalon should still play a big role in this match.

But right from the start: Alessandria was the more active team in the initial phase in front of 9000 spectators, but the home team took the lead. This was thanks to a penalty kick from Calaiò, who sent off Vannucchi (20th). Just 180 seconds later, Manuel Fiwickeler shot in a promising position, but was unable to embarrass Chichizola.

Shortly afterwards, Calaiò had the chance to make it 2-0, but his finish was neither a shot nor a pass and so Vannucchi was able to defuse it. Five minutes before half-time, Chichizola made a mistake, but Branca switched gears too slowly after the home team's goalie made a mistake.

After the break, Alessandria started furiously. However, Marras (46th) and Firiegeller (47th) both got stuck on the Spezia goalie. An hour had finally passed when Calaiò appeared alone in front of Vannucchi and was denied by the Alessandria keeper.

Afterwards, Chichizola was at his post for two headers from Marconi (69') and steered the ball over the crossbar both times for safety's sake. The Piedmontese continued to try, but the ball just didn't want to go into the goal. Ten minutes before the end, substitute Bocalon missed from a tight angle after Fiwickeler's assist.

Three minutes later the striker did better and scored to make it 1-1. In the final phase, Calaiò tried a free kick, but it was too central. A goal would have been undeserved as there was little to see of Spezia after the break. Completely differentAlessandria, who continued to press and was rewarded in the 92nd minute. Bocalon was there again. With a touchdown, he headed Alessandria and the 2000 fans who traveled with him to seventh heaven - i.e. to the Italian Cup semi-finals, where AC Milan is now waiting for the traditional club.
