Year starts with a title: Schatzer's triumph in the Supercup

Eva Schatzer from Vahrn started the new year with a success. On Sunday evening, the South Tyrolean won the Supercup with Juventus.

A 2-1 victory over Roma secured Juventus the Super Cup title. After AS Roma took the lead through Manuela Giugliano (23'), Amalie Vansgaard equalized before halftime (40'). The game was decided late when substitute Cristiana Girelli brilliantly backheeled a cross into the net for the winning goal (85').

Schatzer, who has become a key player for Juventus and the Italian national team, was "only" substituted on in the final. This did not diminish the joy of winning the title.

For Juventus Women, it was their fifth Super Cup victory in history. The triumph in Pescara, where the final took place, was followed by a long night of celebrations – as can easily be seen from posts on social media.
