Coppa Italia: Bologna disenchants Atalanta

Atalanta is in third place in Serie A, and in the Champions League the northern Italians are fighting for a place in the round of 16. But they were knocked out of the cup on Tuesday evening.

Atalanta lost 0-1 at home to Bologna in the quarter-finals and must say goodbye to the dream of winning the Coppa Italia for the first time in more than six decades.

Bologna, which is tenth in Serie A, ten points behind Atalanta and did not survive the Champions League group stage, faced the strong Bergamasco team in a duel on equal terms before striker Santiago Castro decided the outcome in the 80th minute, thus shooting Bologna into the quarter-finals.

Atalanta had reached the final of the cup last year, but lost to Juventus.

The next semi-final ticket will be awarded on Wednesday at the San Siro, where the r undum renewed AC Milan Roma is a guest.
