The star strikers checkmate Obermais

FC Obermais lost a prestigious clash with Chievo Verona on Sunday afternoon. The former Serie A side prevailed in the cup clash on the Lahn River thanks to its star strikers.

Alberto Paloschi and Rocco Costantino are likely familiar names to most South Tyrolean football fans. The two Chievo Verona strikers not only scored in their team's 2-0 win against Obermais on Sunday, but also demonstrated their accuracy throughout their long professional careers. Costantino scored 63 times in 24 matches during his time at FC Südtirol. Paloschi spent years in Serie A (60 goals).

On Sunday, the two veterans ran for Chievo Verona on the Lahn River. In front of a packed crowd, Obermais put on a good performance in their first home game as a Serie D team. Ultimately, the Verona team's victory was well-deserved. Obermais's cup adventure is over. In a week, the Merano team will begin their league campaign against Este.

Costantino and Paloschi ensure victory

Obermais held a clean sheet against Chievo for 38 minutes before Costantino gave the visitors the lead. The Verona side went into the dressing room with a narrow 1-0 lead. After the break, it took just eleven minutes for Paloschi to make it 2-0 (57'). Obermais was unable to find the back of the net again, and Chievo's 2-0 away win remained.

Serie D Cup: Obermais – Chievo Verona 0:2
