The young are on the rise

South Tyrol's young professionals are finding their way better and better in professional football. In some cases the shape curve even points particularly steeply upwards. An overview.

For a long time, the path to professional football was a long and difficult one for South Tyrol's talents. It's still not easy, but there are now a number of positive examples. The veterans around Manuel Fischnler (Torres) and Max Reinthaler (1860 Munich/he is injured) are no longer solo entertainers.

Many young South Tyroleans now earn their money through professional football. Most of them play in Serie C. There are exceptions Simon Straud (Austria Klagenfurt, Bundesliga) or Manuel DeLuca (Sampdoria), who have already been able to assert themselves at a higher level. However, things didn't go well for Straudi at the weekend. His Klagenfurt team lost 0-4 to Sturm Graz, and Straudi was in action for half an hour. De Luca, on the other hand, is on the road to success with Sampdoria. Although Pfattner didn't score this time, the Ligurians celebrated a 1-0 away win at Bari.

Series C as a springboard?

There are a whole bunch of South Tyroleans a league below. The aforementioned Fischler played with Torres in a 1-1 draw against Ancona and played through. The Merano Elion Toci is also a striker and was on the field for the entire game in Pro Sesto's 0-1 defeat against Triestina. Toci is playing his first professional season. In the first half of the season he was mostly a substitute at Sestri Levante, but now he plays a lot of minutes at Pro Sesto. The curve also points upwards Jonas Heinz, who was unlucky in Taranto. In the winter the Naturnser went to Fermi, where things are going well. Heinz played through in the 1-1 draw against Sestri Levante.

Regular staff are too Simone Zanon (Carrarese), Federico Davi (Arzignano Valchiampo) and Lorenzo Sgarbi (Avellino). The latter was only used as a joker in the 2-0 win against Brindisi, but is the southern Italians' top scorer. Davi (0-0 against Trent) and Zanon (1-0 win over Juve U23) were in the starting line-up. The Bolzano Emanuele Zuelli came on as a substitute for Carrarese. There were also minutes of play David Wieser. The Val Gardena native also came on as a substitute in Mantova's 2-0 win against Fiorenzuola.
