FC Südtirol against the best team in the league

FC Südtirol has been waiting for a win in Serie B for nine games. And now, of all times, they are playing away against the best team in the league.

Not only because Monza is at the top of the table, but also because the relegated team is on paper the strongest Serie B side. The squad of Silvio Berlusconi's former club consists almost entirely of players who have already played in Serie A. The most valuable of them, Andrea Colpani, However, the match against FC Südtirol on Monday (15 pm) is cancelled.

The most prominent player in Monza's squad is Matteo Pessina. The 28-year-old is a local boy and remained loyal to his beloved club even after their relegation. The midfielder has a total of 16 caps for Italy, scoring five goals. His greatest achievement is winning the European Championship with Italy in 2021. Monza's best striker at the moment is the Serie A veteran Dany Mota (four goals).

Keita Baldé will attack on the wing. The 30-year-old Senegalese player previously played for Lazio and Inter. FC Südtirol is therefore the clear underdog on Monday. All players are fit again for the Red and Whites. It remains to be seen whether their usual defensive leader, Nicola Pietrangeli, will return to the starting lineup. Despite the difficult situation, FC Südtirol is essentially desperate for points, as the relegation zone is looming ever closer.
