Just four days after historic first victory in Serie D FC Obermais earned another point. On Sunday, the FCO faced their table neighbors from Portogruaro and held the Veneto club to a 1-1 draw. This puts the South Tyroleans in 13th place in Serie D Group C after five matchdays, keeping them in touch with the mid-table.
Maia di Obermais's away game near the border with Friuli-Venezia Giulia could hardly have started better: Michael Seaton, in the 2nd minute, coolly fired home to make it 1-0. Shortly before halftime, however, a lapse in defense proved fatal for the Blue-Whites, and Ferreirinha equalized in the 43rd minute. Merano was also unlucky in the second half: despite their superiority, they just couldn't get a second goal, with winger Edoardo Ghiotti even hitting the woodwork in the 52nd minute. The score remained 1-1, securing a point away from home.
Höller: “Then we’ll concede a stupid goal”
“It was a good game from us,” said Obermais official Michael Höller in an interview with SportNews a conclusion. "But actually, more could have been achieved." He was particularly annoyed by the equalizer before halftime. "After taking the lead, we had to score a second goal; we had two really good chances. Then we conceded a stupid goal right before halftime," said Höller. However, the way Obermais played made him feel positive. "We controlled the game, had the ball, and created many chances. And of course, we're happy to take the point."In Portogruaro, coach Flavio Toccoli deployed a 3-4-3 formation, with Lintner and Kofler moving into the starting lineup compared to the 1-0 win over Adriese. Maia Alta's next match is a home game next Sunday, when they host eighth-placed Campodarsego from the province of Padua (kick-off 3:00 PM).
