State league: Pichl Gsies surprises FC Bozen 96

FC Bozen 96 suffered their first defeat in the championship of the highest amateur league in South Tyrol on matchday 13. Coach Jurcevic's boys were guests at twelfth-placed Pichl Gsies on Sunday and were unable to live up to their role as favorites. Right from the start, Piffrader gave the home team the lead. Villani equalized in the 18th minute to make it 1-1, but with Piffrader's second goal the Gsiesers took the lead again before halftime. In the second half of the game, the hosts benefited from an own goal from Bolzano, while Aiello reduced the score to 2-3 two minutes later. Reier made it 4-2 in the final minutes.

Meanwhile, leaders St. Pauls shook their way to a 2-1 win against Stegen in the last ten minutes. Thanks to Ulrich Brunner, the Pusterers were ahead until the 81st minute, but then double goalscorer Simon Fabi turned the tide. In the 81st minute he equalized to make it 1-1 and shortly afterwards he scored a penalty to make it 2-1. The Paulsners now lead the table with a lead of five points.

Basement derbies end in a draw

It was also exciting on Sunday in the table cellar, where Bozner Boden and Latsch, as well as Nals and Moos, faced each other. In the end, however, the four clubs had to settle for one point each, which is why there were no changes in the state league rankings in this regard.

The points were also shared by Schlern and Natz (2:2), while Virtus Don Bosco brought FC Meran to their knees with a score of 2:0. Obermais, on the other hand, continued its successful run that has been going on since September 8th with a 2-0 win against Neugries and climbed to third place in the table, as SC Passeier had to admit defeat to the WeinstraßeSüd team 0-2. Both Obermais goals came from penalties.
