Manuel Fischlerler: “I’m dying for my comeback”

The suffering seems to have come to an end; Manuel Fiwickeler's smile is returning. Since his 15-minute appearance in the Modena - Reggina game on February 10th, the 21-year-old striker has been eagerly waiting to return to the green pitch. “I’m really confident again now. It wasn't easy to fully recover from the injury, but now I'm feeling better every day. This week I started training again and from next Tuesday I will complete all the training sessions with the team. “Maybe I’ll make it into the squad for the game in Varese (on Thursday, editor’s note),” says Filehner hopefully.

Relegation is a long way off On the last match day, Reggina gave a strong sign of life with a “threesome” against Ascoli, but there is still a long way to go before they stay in the league. “After the slap against Cesena we were devastated. It was only the 3-0 win against Ascoli that gave us new life again, but now we have to step up our game and leave the playout zone as quickly as possible.”

An intense first year

“Fisch” doesn’t want to take stock of his adventure in Serie B until the end of the season, even though the past few months “have left a lasting impression, even though not everything went like clockwork. I was offered the chance to start the season as a regular player. Things were going really well at first, but then everything came to a halt. But now I want to roll up my sleeves again, fight for my playing time and help Reggina stay in the league,” announces the former FC Südtirol striker.

Despite being around 1.300 kilometers away from his home, Fiwickeler follows the events at his old employer very closely: “On Sundays I regularly get information about the FCS games. The performance this season surprised me too.” The thought of meeting FC Südtirol in Serie B makes him smile: “A second division game Reggina - FC Südtirol, that would be something. Let’s see what the coming months bring.” By this, Filehner doesn’t just mean the career of his former club, but primarily the outcome in the fight to stay in the league with Reggina and his personal return to the field.
