In Friday evening's Supercoppa semi-final in Riyadh, Inter and Bologna battled for a place in the final against Napoli, who had secured their spot the previous day with a commanding 2-0 victory over Milan. For the Rossoblù, it was another appearance on the big stage: Bologna arrived as the reigning Coppa Italia champions, aiming to take another prestigious step, while Inter entered the match as favorites. Ultimately, the evenly matched game (1-1 after 90 minutes) had to be decided by a penalty shootout, where Bologna held their nerve and secured their place in the final.
The match developed into an intense and fast-paced contest from the outset. Inter took an early lead when Alessandro Bastoni converted a cross after just a few minutes, but Bologna responded before halftime: Riccardo Orsolini remained composed from the penalty spot to equalize. Both teams then consistently pushed forward, combining well and repeatedly finding themselves in promising positions, though without creating a multitude of clear-cut chances. Overall, the encounter appeared balanced, with a slight advantage for Bologna, who played with courage, set a high tempo, and at times kept Inter very busy.

After 90 minutes, the score was a deserved 1-1 – extra time is not part of the Supercoppa, so both teams went straight to penalties. While the first two penalty takers, Lautaro Martínez and Lewis Ferguson, both converted their spot kicks with ease, the next three penalty takers from Inter and Bologna missed. Finally, Ciro Immobile beautifully curled the decisive penalty into the top right corner, sending his new team, Bologna, into the final.
