Next shock in Bormio: Caviezel's screams of pain

The Stelvio is one of the most difficult courses in the Ski World Cup, but this year there are more and more falls and injuries. The rescue helicopter had to be deployed again on Sunday for the Super-G.

What's going on at Stelvio this year? The Super-G on the notorious course in Bormio was only a few minutes old when the fans at the finish line were already gasping for breath. Gino Caviezel, who started the race with starting number 1, unfortunately tangled in the middle of the course and slid dozens of meters down the steep course.

The Swiss rider finally came to a halt on the flat section, but his cries of pain could be heard immediately on the television broadcast. The Swiss rider raised his hand and frantically waved for help. Rescue workers immediately rushed to the scene of the accident, and the rescue helicopter also had to take off again. The race was interrupted for a long time.

The World Cup stop in Bormio has already claimed several victims: Cyprien Sarrazin suffered a hemorrhage between two meninges, Pietro Zazzi broke his tibia and fibula, and Joshua Mettler suffered tears of the anterior cruciate ligament, the medial collateral ligament and the medial meniscus.

The race continued after a long break. With the Sports news live ticker you can follow the decision.
