Overall World Cup winners Daniel Tschofenig, Manuel Fettner, Jan Hörl and Stefan Kraft were 29,1 points ahead in the duel with Germany, while host and favorite Slovenia with ski flying World Cup winner Domen Prevc finished only 42,1rd, 3 points behind Austria.
The Austrian team finished first after every national round except for one, trailing Germany by 0,6 points only after Fettner's first jump. However, head coach Andreas Widhölzl's team only managed to pull away decisively with Jan Hörl's 228-meter jump in the penultimate round, when the Austrian team was more than 20 points ahead of the Germans for the first time.
