AHC Vinschgau lost its first semifinal match of the IHL Division 1 against the overwhelming championship favorites Ares Sport 3-5 (SportNews reported). However, the talking points in the days following were not the Eisfix's surrendered 3-0 lead or the impressive crowd of 1100 spectators in Aosta, but a foul by former Italian international Brian Ihnacak. The 38-year-old avenged a check by smashing Vinschgau's Michael Pircher in the head. The referees only stopped the game when objects from the visitors' bench flew onto the ice and the injured player was loudly pointed out. Ihnacak got off with a minor penalty. This means he will be there on Saturday when Ares aim for their second win in the best-of-3 series in Latsch and thus their long-awaited place in the final. © stol AHC Vinschgau lost its first semifinal match of the IHL Division 1 against the overwhelming championship favorites Ares Sport 3-5 (SportNews reported).
