The match between FC Südtirol and Palermo, that the Sicilians won 2-0 in the Drusus Stadium in mid-September, Although it happened three months ago, it's still a topic of conversation now, at the beginning of December. The reason: Bolzano police commissioner Giuseppe Ferrari has issued stadium bans (DASPO) against seven Palermo fans who do not reside in South Tyrol. The men, aged between 23 and 48, are now prohibited from attending football matches in Italy and abroad for one to two years.
But what happened? Six DASPO (German Football Association) decisions stem from incidents at the Drusus Stadium. A Palermo fan, who possessed a ticket outside the away section, gained unauthorized access to the already overcrowded Palermo section by forcibly kicking in a door between the two sections. This action allowed three more Palermo fans to enter the away section. Two other supporters then climbed over the plexiglass barrier into the away section. These six individuals were reported to the police and have now been banned from the stadium.
The police had their hands full.
Another incident occurred outside the stadium. A 41-year-old man from Palermo, along with other fans, protested at Bolzano train station against the ban on ticket sales for residents of Sicily. This ban had been issued by the government commissioner's office prior to the match due to concerns about potential violence. During the protest, the 41-year-old Palermo supporter damaged a pane of glass, resisted and threatened the arriving officers, refused to provide his identity, and behaved aggressively. He, too, was issued a stadium ban.
