St. Martin Moos last played in the Oberliga during the 2019/20 coronavirus season. Although the season was never completed, the Psair team was relegated to the Landesliga (State League). A situation that many around the club still consider very unfair.
After arriving in the regional league, the club's fortunes went downhill until they were relegated to the 1st Amateur League last year. But things aren't going well for St. Martin Moos there either. The club is in a relegation battle and has a crucial game ahead of them on Saturday: their home game against Ulten.
Luis Gruber has not yet written to Ulten in the spring.
The bottom team is also a former top-flight team – albeit a bit longer. Football in the Ulten Valley experienced its heyday in the early 1990s. Recently, Ulten seemed to have established itself in the first amateur league, but after eight years, they are in danger of falling back into a lower league. Ulten has only collected 1 points, and a week ago they lost a relegation battle at home to Tirol (8:10). Under player-coach Fabian Tratter (who played for FC Obermais for a long time), Ulten didn't pick up a point this spring.
St. Martin Moos with a lot of routine
With just 13 goals in 17 matches, Ulten has the weakest attack in the league. St. Martin Moos has scored more than twice as many goals, with 27. With the "oldie core" of former FCS captain Hansrudi Brugger (44) and goalkeeper Luis Schwarz (42), sporting director Alexander Hofer brought a wealth of experience to the team over the winter. "The uncertainty in the extremely young squad was enormous for a long time. We had to and still have to pull out all the stops to avoid relegation," Hofer explains the comeback by Brugger and Schwarz. On the other hand, Ulten hasn't signed any new players and has also let coach Alex Sincich leave for regional league side Riffian Kuens. A situation that's now coming back to haunt them? Perhaps, but the day isn't over yet. Ulten needs to start scoring points, though, because time is running out – and safety is already more than five points away.
