Euphoria in the State Cup: Obermais wins the double

Obermais has crowned its dream season: In the final of the South Tyrolean Regional Cup, the Oberliga champions prevailed against Partschins and thus secured the double.

Everything was set for a true football festival. On Friday evening, the two top league teams, Obermais and Partschins, met in the final of the South Tyrolean Regional Cup. The blue and white team from Merano had the chance to complete the double with a cup win and add gold to their already strong season. Partschins, which had finished third in the Oberliga, wanted to prevent that from happening and end their opponent's title dream. But in the end, Obermais celebrated: with a 2-1 victory, they lifted the Regional Cup.

From the start, a thrilling match unfolded. Obermais took the more attacking approach and created the first good opportunities. In the 22nd minute, Manuel Brusco attempted a long-range shot, but it was too central – Patrick Trogmann in the Partschins goal easily plucked the ball down. Shortly after, the same players were in the spotlight again: Trogmann tried to clear the ball out of play, but Brugmann energetically interfered and forced a corner. FCO defender Debiasi then got a header, but it fired just over the bar.

Two goals in no time

Partschins remained patient and seized its chance in the 39th minute. After Alex Debiasi fouled Armin Rungg, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Noah Schweitzer confidently converted the resulting penalty to give Vinschgau a 1-0 lead. But Merano's response wasn't long in coming: just three minutes later, in the 42nd minute, Obermais equalized. A quick throw-in from Stefan Turini on the right found Andreas Nicoletti, who curled the ball precisely and unstoppably into the far corner – 1-1.

The game remained open after the break. Obermais again sought the lead, but both Turini and Younes Jamai shot over the bar. At the other end, Tizian Stecher posed a threat; he played strongly in the second half but was unable to make a decisive impact.

In the 73rd minute, Obermais finally got its reward: Brusco received a perfect pass from the halfway line in the penalty area, beat two defenders, and fired a powerful shot. Trogmann got to the ball but couldn't prevent it from going in – 2-1 for Obermais. In the closing stages, Partschins threw everything forward, but they never really threatened. Obermais defended cleverly and landed a few counterattacks of their own – and ultimately deservedly held on to the cup victory.
