St. Georgen gains confidence in the cup

On Wednesday evening, two catch-up games from the second round of the South Tyrolean Cup were scheduled.

With just one point from five matches, St. Georgen has had a rather poor start to the Oberliga this year. However, the Jergina have now advanced to the next round of the regional cup. The Pustertal team beat FC Gröden 4-3 on Wednesday after a spectacular match. Both teams rotated their squads extensively.

In the other rescheduled match, Oberliga newcomers Ahrntal beat Ridnauntal 2-1 in Stange. The team from the 1st Amateur League led 1-0. However, the Teldra turned the game around thanks to substitutions during the break. Noah Gietl scored the winning goal right at the end, following a David Zimmerhofer assist.

The round of 16 pairings will then take place on Wednesday, October 22nd – in exactly three weeks.
