Emotions, drama, and an atmosphere that can only be found at the country's most legendary small-sided tournament. The 33rd edition of MythosMorktplotz concluded on Saturday and once again set the hearts of football fans racing.

Goldwaage, a team that has participated in the tournament for years and is always among the favorites, deservedly emerged victorious. In a nail-biting final, they prevailed 1-0 against the surprise team of the tournament, the Mendelbuabm from Kaltern.

Pure excitement in the final games

This year's edition of MythosMorktplotz was characterized by high intensity and a level of play that is exceptional for a recreational tournament. This was evident throughout all 104 matches in the open tournament, but was particularly evident on the final day. It's telling that not a single match from the round of XNUMX onwards was won by more than two goals. However, four teams, VinoBiancos FC, Goldwaage, Mendelbuabm, and Erotico Madrid, made it to the semifinals, and they more than deserved their place.

In front of a breathtaking backdrop in the Morktplotz Arena – over 500 spectators watched the matches via live stream – the final was, in a sense, a clash of opposites. On the one hand, there was Goldwaage, a true perennial favorite at the Morktplotz and frequently ranked among the best teams. Last year, they were eliminated in the semifinals in a penalty shootout. This year, they were again defeated in the semifinals by VinoBiancos FC in a penalty shootout, but came out on top. On the other hand, there were the Mendelbuabm, who, in their second ever participation, fought their way to the final with fighting spirit and heart. In the semifinals, they eliminated the winners of the 30th edition, Erotico Madrid, 1-0.

Mendelbuabm come up short

In the final itself, both teams gave it their all, with both the Mendelbuabm and the Goldwaage creating several chances. The decisive goal came one minute before the end of the first half: After a long ball, Hassan Moufakir suddenly found himself alone in front of the Mendelbuabm goal, but laid the ball off to Fation Imeri, who fired the ball over the line.

Despite a selfless fight, the Mendelbuabm were unable to make any headway in the remainder of the game, and at times they lacked the necessary luck. Nevertheless, with the Goldwaage, the MythosMorktplotz once again has a worthy and, above all, deserving winner.

The All-Star team was also honored.

Renè Sanna of semifinalist Erotico Madrid was named the tournament's best striker, Hassan Moufakir of the tournament winners was named the best defender, and Jacopo Passarella of the VinoBiancos, who won the third-place match, was named the best goalkeeper. Felix Florian of the Mendelbuabm was named the tournament's best player. Felix Leimgruber of the Green Bulls Girlan was the top scorer (3 goals). This team also boasted the most beautiful player, Simon Kerschbaumer.
