The junior team wants to cause a sensation.

Regional tournament: These South Tyrolean football talents are taking part

Off to Sicily! The 61st edition of the regional tournament begins on Saturday, featuring four teams from our province: the U19 juniors, the U17 senior youths, the U15 juniors, and the U23 women's team.

Just 24 hours earlier, on Friday, the South Tyrolean selections will fly from Verona to Palermo, arriving in Porto Empedocle. The prestigious LND event will take place from April 12 to 18.

The boys' team from South Tyrol will compete in Group B with Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Trentino. They will compete in that order from Saturday to Monday. Only the group winners advance to the next round, and the three best runners-up from each of the five groups will qualify for the quarterfinals. The U23 women's team, on the other hand, will play in a group of three with Veneto and Trentino. In this case, only the winner will qualify for the round of eight.

Schweitzer, Stecher and Turini lead the juniors

The junior team, in particular, boasts several talented players who have already made a splash in the local amateur leagues. Marco Nicoletti's squad is led by the exceptional talents from Partschins, Noah Schweitzer and Tizian Stecher. The latter has already scored eleven goals this Oberliga season. This duo, along with Obermais striker Stefan Turini (who is also playing in Sicily), have even completed some training sessions with the national amateur team.

The women’s team is also ready to go.

Manuel Obrist, coach of the U2017 team since the 18/17 season, commented before the departure: "The representative teams are an important platform and opportunity for the players to play together with other players from different clubs and to compete with other regions in friendly matches and tournaments. The work of the U17 team supports the clubs in training the players before they advance to the first team. In addition to the sporting aspect, the regional tournament also has a particularly social value, as important connections and friendships are formed. Such experiences promote cohesion."
