This wild foul by Alessandro Tura is causing a lot of discussion.

Mild punishment after brutal action in Kaltern

The incident caused a stir in the ice hockey world: During the IHL final, the Aosta goalie deliberately hit a Caldaro player in the neck with his stick. A verdict has now been reached, but this, too, is causing controversy.

It was last Thursday when Kaltern's Florian Wieser ran past the Aosta goal during a standstill. At that moment, goalie Alessandro Tura swung his stick and hit him with full force in the area between his shoulder and helmet. Wieser fell to the ground, but was later able to continue playing, thus contributing to Kaltern's home victory.

The referees hadn't noticed the incident, but it was clear to all observers that there would be replay. Now the sports court has taken action. Although Kaltern's objection was rejected, recordings of the incident were nevertheless evaluated due to the seriousness of the offense. The verdict concluded that Tura, according to the verdict, "intentionally and violently struck his opponent in the shoulder-neck area with his racket, which he held with both hands, during a standstill."

So far, nothing surprising, but the following, relatively mild, punishment is somewhat surprising. Tura has been suspended for two matches by the sports court. He is not considered a repeat offender. Therefore, it is uncertain whether the 33-year-old goalkeeper from Asiago, who has previously played between the posts in Merano, Milan, and Varese, among others, will play in this final.

Marinelli plays for Tura

In the best-of-7 series, Kaltern made up for a 0-2 deficit and equalized to 2-2 on Saturday. The fifth encounter will take place this Tuesday (20.30 p.m.) in the Raiffeisen Arena in Altenburg, the sixth and possibly final duel is scheduled for Thursday (20 p.m.) in Aosta. Tura would not return to action until a decisive seventh match, until then he will be represented between the posts by the young Merano native Lorenzo Marinelli.
