The overtime victory against HC Bozen has made HC Pustertal euphoric. However, the two points came at a high price. Defender Ole Andersen has been seriously injured and has to end his season early. "That is very bitter for us, especially at this stage of the season," said Pustertal's sports director Patrick Bona on SportNews-Demand.
In the match against Bozen, Andersen hit the boards and suffered a microfracture in his hand. Andersen will fly to his Norwegian homeland on Tuesday and undergo an operation. A hard blow for the Pustertal team, as the 25-year-old is now out of action as their top-scoring defender. Andersen had scored 43 points in 29 games.
What about Svedberg?
This is already the second notable absence in the HCP defense, as Viktor Svedberg has also had to take a break for five weeks. When will he be back? "I hope that he will be available again in the pre-playoffs. For him it is a day-to-day matter," said Bona, who is now searching intensively for a new defender on the transfer market. The Wolves still have one match left in the regular season, on Friday when they face league leaders Klagenfurt. Just two days later – on Sunday – there is game 1 of the pre-playoffs. Who will Pustertal face? Graz, Linz, Fehervar, Villach and Ljubljana are possible opponents, but we won't know for sure until the last matchday on Friday.
Meanwhile, HC Bozen has become active on the transfer market, securing the services of Nick Sarracino (Asiago) secured.
