The leader marches on

Four matches were scheduled for Saturday's 20th matchday of the Landesliga. These included duels between neighboring teams in the table, but also encounters that were unequal on paper.

First against second to last: With this in mind, Bruneck and Kiens entered Saturday's match on the 20th matchday of the regional league. On paper, it seemed there would only be one clear winner – and in reality, that's exactly how it turned out. The relegation-threatened Kiens, who are three points away from safety before Sunday's games, struggled from the start against the league leaders. Bruneck ultimately prevailed 2-0. The goals came from Felix Gräber and Stefan Nagler.

The match between Riffian Kuens (16th) and Val Gardena (4th) also appeared to be a close call. The bottom team in the regional league desperately needs points to avoid relegation. But victory against the Ladins was elusive: The favorites lived up to their role and snatched a 4-1 away victory. The game was evenly matched for much of the match, with both Walid Sogheir (Val Gardena) and Felix Ladurner (Riffian Kuens) receiving red cards. The match was only decided when Michael Perathoner headed home the 63-2 lead for the visitors in the 1rd minute.

Salurn wins, draw in Marling

Salurn seems to have finally found its stride. The Unterland team celebrated a 2-1 victory in Terlan on Saturday – their third win in four matches of the second half of the season. The Etschtal team, on the other hand, is still waiting for its first win of the second half of the season, having so far suffered three defeats and one draw. The winning goal on Saturday was scored by Fabio Bertoldi, who is back in form after an injury layoff.

Tscherms Marling and Weinstraße Süd, meanwhile, drew 1-1. The point doesn't really help the two neighboring teams in the table, but it does keep them in the top spots and, as things stand, aren't directly involved in the relegation battle.
