Ghiotti lets Obermais dream of Serie D

In the eagerly awaited Oberliga rescheduled match, FC Obermais prevailed at home against SV Partschins. Their title dream is getting closer.

FC Obermais has been somewhat sluggish recently (two games without a win), but on Wednesday evening, the blue and whites impressively demonstrated in front of their home crowd in a top-of-the-table match that the championship title can only be won through the Merano-based club. They extended their lead in the table to nine points with a 2-3 victory.

For the first time, there was a floodlit home game on the Obermaiser Lahn. Until recently, the sports field had no lights, so the evening games were played at the Viehmarktplatz in the city center. Just in time for the "inauguration" of the floodlights on the Lahn, the FCO also showed off its best side again. Although Obermaiser's Paolo Basile gave the visitors the lead after just two minutes in their "home game," Edoardo Ghiotti (2th) and Matteo Timpone (27rd) turned the game around before halftime. In between, Partschins youngster Tizian Stecher was unlucky with a shot that hit the crossbar (33th).

Partschins coach Luca Lomi – who also has a background in Obermais – brought on Max Lanthaler for his brother Daniel after the break. However, the substitution fizzled out, as instead of equalizing, Giotti scored the deciding goal after about an hour (57').
