Simon Mair has torn his cruciate ligament.

Serious injury: Simon Mair out for a long time

There was some very bitter news for Gitschberg Jochtal this week: The season may be over for goalie Simon Mair.

Simon Mair is one of the best goalkeepers in the national league. But now he is facing a very long break. The 34-year-old tore a cruciate ligament in his knee during training last week. That probably means the end of his season, as you have to expect at least a six-month break after an injury like that.

This is very bitter for Mair and for Gitschberg Jochtal, which has lost a major pillar of support. Mair was trained at FC Südtirol and was also a substitute goalkeeper for the pros. He then played for St. Georgen, Stegen, Tramin and Brixen, and now he is goalkeeper for Gitschberg Jochtal. But Mair now faces a long break.
