South Tyrolean problem children: A bizarre picture in the top league

In recent years, South Tyrolean clubs in the top division have consistently held a preponderance over those from Trentino. This year, at least in the relegation battle, that seems to be changing. And so, after the 14th matchday, we see a very rare sight: the bottom six places in the table are occupied exclusively by South Tyrolean teams: St. Pauls, Ahrntal, Brixen, St. Georgen, Gröden, and Partschins.
In recent weeks, this winning streak had been interrupted by Lavis, but the former Serie D club from Trentino celebrated a resounding 4-0 victory over Val Gardena on Sunday, thus catapulting themselves out of the relegation zone. Meanwhile, the South Tyrolean teams struggling at the bottom of the table suffered only defeats.

Partschins were thrashed 1-3 by Tramin (Alex Pfitscher scored twice), St. Georgen suffered a 1-4 defeat in Levico, Brixen went down 0-4 against Union Trent, Ahrntal lost 0-1 at home against Comano and St. Pauls could get nothing against league leaders Virtus Bozen, losing 2-4.
Two teams from Bolzano are laughing from the top
While six South Tyrolean teams are at the bottom of the table, two local clubs are sitting pretty at the top: Virtus Bozen and Bozner FC (who won 1-0 against Benacense) lead the standings with 30 and 29 points respectively. Behind them is the Trentino contingent of seven teams from the neighboring province, including fifth-placed Tramin. The final matchday of the first half of the season in the Oberliga takes place next Sunday.Oberliga, 14th matchday
