Manuel Fischnaller had originally planned to compete for promotion to Serie B with Trapani this season. However, because the Sicilians have now had 15 points deducted, the team from Signat is currently fighting relegation.

Eight points at the start of the season, seven more now: Trapani has to accept a deduction of 15 (!) points in the current Serie C season. The reason is financial irregularities uncovered by the Financial Control Committee of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).

For Trapani, the recent points deduction, officially announced on Thursday, has had a major impact on the league table. Trapani slipped from 9th to 16th place – level on points with Foggia and Latina. For Manuel Fischnaller, the reality now is a relegation battle rather than a promotion fight. Without the points deduction, Trapani would be in 6th place with 34 points. Benevento leads the table with 44 points, followed by Catania with 42.

Fischnaller himself is a key player in Trapani and is having one of the best seasons of his career. He has scored 9 goals in 16 league games so far.
