Series C: The hot phase is just around the corner

Every Monday we take a closer look at the achievements of those South Tyrolean football professionals who earn their money outside their home borders. This Monday, the “Field Sales” section focuses on the footballers who are fighting for promotion in the Serie C play-offs.

The most important international leagues have already been completed or are about to end. But for some football professionals from South Tyrol, who earn their money outside their home borders, things are only just getting going in the Serie C play-offs. Specifically, we are talking about Manuel Fiwickeler, Lorenzo Sgarbi, Emanuele Zuelli and Simone Zanon.

Carrarese around the two South Tyroleans Emanuele Zuelli and Simone Zanon survived the first play-off round of the B group. The first leg was won against Perugia 2-0. In the second leg there was a 1:2 defeat, but on aggregate Carrarese won 3:2. Now the Tuscans face the next-gen team from Juventus Turin.

Manuel Fischnler (with Sassari Torres) and Lorenzo Sgarbi (Avellino) and their teams will only start the play-offs for Serie B tomorrow, Tuesday. They received a bye in the first round because they finished second in their respective districts. Sassari faces Benevento in the B group, Avellino faces Catania in the C group. While the first leg takes place on Tuesday, the second leg takes place on Saturday.

Promotion, relegation and relegation

On the other hand, the other South Tyrol professionals have already ended the season outside their home country borders. David Wieser and Mantova have become champions in Serie C and will play against FC Südtirol in Serie B next season. FCS talent Jonas Heinz, on the other hand, had to make the bitter journey to Serie D with Fermana. Heinz is now returning to FC Südtirol, where he still has a one-year contract.

Also returns to the white and red Federico Davi back. The brother of FCS full-back Simone spent the last two seasons at Arzignano in Serie C. This season he and his team managed to stay in the league. Now he should help FC Südtirol. Max Reinthaler was in the squad for his team 1860 Munich's last game of the season, but there wasn't enough to play. The team from Bavaria was able to stay in the 3rd league.

sadness and joy

There are probably conflicting moods at the moment Manuel DeLuca from Sampdoria Genoa and Simon Straud from Austria Klagenfurt. Pfattner and his team from Liguria failed in the Serie B play-offs against Palermo in the first round. De Luca was on the field for 90 minutes, but even he couldn't prevent the 0-2 defeat. As a result, direct promotion was not achieved; Sampdoria will also play in Serie B next season.

Simon Straudi, on the other hand, was able to celebrate a pleasant end to the season. The Puster player returned to the substitutes' bench on the penultimate matchday after a long injury break (almost two months) and was substituted on in the last game of the season against champions Sturm Graz in the 71st minute. Straudi's contract is now expiring, what will happen next is still up in the air.
