Two defenders, two goals: South Tyroleans make it a blast

Two South Tyrolean defenders caused a sensation in Serie C this weekend. They are the focus of our "Outside the Country" section, where we closely follow the performances of local professional footballers.

Luke Sinn He scored two goals for Clodiense Chioggia last year. After their relegation, the 22-year-old from Caldaro left the beautiful holiday resort and stayed in Serie C – specifically with Ospitaletto (near Brescia). This weekend, the left-back scored his first goal for his new club. In the 3-0 away win against Novara, Sinn sealed the victory with a spectacular shot on the turn inside the penalty area.

Jonas Heinz He followed up his first professional goal with a second just a week later: In Casertana's 3-0 away win against Giugliano, the 22-year-old from Naturns gave the visitors the lead. After a corner, Heinz powerfully met the ball and scored with a diving header.

Manuel Fischnler (He was in the starting eleven) but lost 0-3 with Trapani at Siracusa. Benedikt Rottensteiner He played for the second time from the start and was allowed to participate for 55 minutes in Bra's 1:1 draw against Juventus' U23 team.

Serie B and 3rd League: Few wins, many appearances

In Serie B, Mantova lost to Empoli 0-1. David Wieser played until the 69th minute. Emanuele Zuelli and Simone Zanon (both were in the starting eleven) suffered a 1:4 defeat with Carrarese against league leaders Monza. Lorenzo Sgarbi He was substituted on in the 83rd minute of Pescara's 2-1 victory against Reggiana.

In Germany's third division, they conceded Simon Straud (Energie Cottbus) and Max Reinthaler (1860 Munich) Setback in the promotion race. Straudi and league leaders Cottbus couldn't manage more than a 2-2 draw against Regensburg after leading 2-0. Reinthaler missed the chance to close the gap at the top of the table, losing 2-0 at home to Verl with the Lions. Both South Tyroleans played the full 90 minutes. Just like... Luke Mazagg, who suffered another setback in the relegation battle with Ulm (2:3 at Rot-Weiss Essen).
