The time is ripe: Paris leads Azzurri to Kitzbühel

Super-G, downhill, slalom – next weekend, Kitzbühel will once again be offering a top-class World Cup spectacle. Dominik Paris will lead the Azzurri squad for the iconic Hahnenkamm races.

In recent years, Kitzbühel has proven to be a good place for the South Tyrolean ski elite. Whether it was the furious podium finishes of Florian Schieder and Christof Innerhofer or the triumphant successes of Dominik Paris and Peter Fill - there was reason to celebrate at regular intervals. This success story is of course set to continue this season. The Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) can rely on its best athletes for this mission.

Ten athletes have been nominated for the Super-G on Friday (11.30 a.m.) and the downhill on Saturday (11.30 a.m.). Paris leads the squad, and Schieder, Innerhofer, Val Gardena winner Mattia Casse, Nicolò Molteni, Benjamin Alliod, Gregorio Bernardi, Giovanni Franzoni, Matteo Franzoso and Marco Abbruzzese are also expected to make an impact.

The final highlight of the programme is the slalom on Sunday (10.15 am/13.30 pm). After Luca de Aliprandini won the giant slalom in Adelboden provided the first azure podium finish in the technical disciplines in three years, the Azzurri now want to step up their game in the problematic discipline of slalom.

Six athletes are attacking the slalom in Kitzbühel. Alex Vinatzer, Tobias Kastlunger, Stefano Gross, Matteo Canins (he recently won his first European Cup race), Corrado Barbera and Tommaso Saccardi are expected to do the job. The same team will also be competing in the night slalom in Schladming on January 29th.
