The Europeada adventure has already begun

The Europeada adventure 2024 for 79 players from South Tyrol and the 4 Ladin valleys began yesterday evening. At 20.44 p.m. the selected players boarded the night train, which started in Innsbruck and reached its final destination in Hamburg at 8.47 a.m. this morning.

At 17.30 p.m., two buses set off to take the players and the support team to Innsbruck. There they changed to the train. After arriving at Hamburg Central Station, the journey continued by bus. The Ladin women's and men's team is staying at the Ramada Hotel in Flensburg.

The South Tyrol selections will be staying at the Hotel Landhafen (men) and Inse-Pension (women) in Niebüll, which is around 45 kilometers from Flensburg. The 9000-inhabitant town of Niebüll is located because both the South Tyrolean men and women will play their preliminary round matches in Denmark, more precisely in Tondern, Krusau and Sonderburg.

While the Ladin women and the South Tyrolean men will only enter the tournament on Monday, the Ladin men and South Tyrolean women will be in action tomorrow. For the Ladin men, the duel against the Aromanians from Romania will probably be about reaching the quarter-finals, while the South Tyrolean women will face the Germans in Denmark, which can be seen as an early final.

Opening ceremony with entry of all 33 teams

The 5th edition of the Europeada will be kicked off this afternoon with the official opening ceremony in Schleswig. It begins with the entry of all 33 teams (24 men's and 9 women's teams) at 17 p.m. From tomorrow onwards, the competition will be played in 7 preliminary round groups for the men and 3 for the women on 14 different pitches (4 in Denmark, 10 in Schleswig Holstein/Germany).

There was a last-minute change in the South Tyrolean men's team: Because Justin Pfeifer had to sit out due to a persistent inflammation of the pubic bone (pubalgia), the Brixen winger Manuel Wachtler was nominated. He has already trained at the 2 selection training sessions this week in the Rungg sports zone. All Europeada games will be broadcast live, information on this can be found on europeada.eu.
